Hammock Camping

A recent initiative in 2013 was started by “REV” on the hammockforums.net, to categorically answer the question about hammock camping in the 50 states. Here are the results in table format: The 50 State Project – Plus!: US State Parks & Hammocks Database

Without question, the most useful, concise, and first site I would recommend for an intro to hammocks is Just Jeff’s Hammock Camping Page.

The simplest and easiest system for hanging hammocks is to use 1″ polyester webbing (not nylon as it will stretch, and not polypropylene, as it is not as strong as polyester, although it does float), along with a cinch buckle which can be purchased at onrope1.com or dutchwaregear.com. There are lighter weight suspension systems out there like whoopie slings for all you ultra-lighter’s, but you cannot beat the convenience, adjust-ability, quick setup and built-in “tree huggers” that a webbing/cinch buckle system provides.

SimplyLightDesigns.com has the best pre-made strap and cinch buckle suspension system for an excellent price.
